In 1876, the Samurai were banned from carrying their swords. This attempt to end a thousand year tradition was not received well by the proud warrior class and the "Stick Katana" was born. Innocuous walking canes now concealed the revered blades, but the Katana, "The soul of the Samurai" lived on.
Blade : 71 cm. Razor sharped. Hand-forged from 1065 high carbon steel and differentially tempered, using the traditional claying method to produce a hardness of HRC60 at the edge and HRC40 on the back (Mune).
Handle : 29 cm. Bamboo. Safety locked by press-button.
Scabbard : Bamboo.

Handle : 36 cm. The Tsuka is wrapped in a genuine ray skin with a Tsuka-ito of Japonese cotton.
Scabbard : The saya is deeply blue lacquered and the sageo is woven in black Japonese cotton.
The 36 cm. Tsuka of the Katana gives superb balance and functionality to the sword, allowing it to move freely and quickly.
